Basic Death Benefit

Available during accumulation phase. Upon death of owner or annuitant, benefit will equal to contract value. If beneficiary election of death benefit is made more than six months after death, death benefit will be equal to the contract value plus any positive aggregate market value adjustment. Some contracts provide a Guaranteed Death Benefit which may be by beneficiary within first six months of annuitant's death, if beneficiary elects a lump-sum distribution or an income phase payment option within six months of death, Guaranteed Death Benefit is greater of - 1) contract value; or 2) total purchase payments, adjusted for withdrawal.
