Basic Death Benefit

Available during accumulation phase. Upon death of owner or annuitant (in connection with a 457 plan), benefit will be greatest of - 1) contract value, 2) adjusted total purchase payments, or 3) highest contract value on any sixth contract anniversary prior to annuitant's or owner's age 80, adjusted for withdrawals and subsequent payments. For NQ contract owned by a non-natural person benefit base will be equal to contract value at annuitant's death.
