Basic Death Benefit

Available during accumulation phase. Upon death of owner or annuitant, if owner and annuitant are less than age 80, benefit will be greatest of - 1) contract value, 2) total purchase payments adjusted for withdrawals and applicable taxes or 3) lesser of maximum anniversary value or sum of contract value plus 25% of maximum anniversary value. If owner or annuitant is age 81 or older death benefit will be greater of - 1) contract value or 2) lesser of total purchase payments adjusted for withdrawals or sum of contract value plus 25% of purchase payments adjusted for withdrawals excluding purchase payments made within 12 month of death.
