Basic Death Benefit

Available during accumulation phase only. Upon death of owner age 79 or younger, benefit will be equal to greater of - 1) purchase payments made into Account A less withdrawals from Account A and adjusted transfers to Account B, or 2) highest anniversary value calculated on any contract anniversary, prior to owner's 80th birthday or death. An anniversary value is equal to value of Account A on a contract anniversary plus purchase payments allocated to Account A since that contract anniversary minus adjusted transfers to Account B and withdrawals from Account A since that contract anniversary. If owner age 80 or older at issue, benefit base equals greater of - 1) purchase payments made less withdrawals and adjusted transfers to Account B plus value of Account B, or 2) contract value. Transfer to Account B will reduce benefit base in same proportion.
