Basic Death Benefit

If the Owner dies before the Annuity Commencement Date, before the age of 75the Death Benefit is generally the greatest of: (1) the Account Value, (2) total Purchase Payments, or (3) the highest Death Benefit on any 5-year Contract Anniversary (with limits based on age). All amounts are reduced by taxes, partial surrenders, and outstanding loans. If the Contract was issued after age 75, only the Account Value or Purchase Payments (whichever is greater) applies.
