Benefit description
The Additional Earnings Rider is an optional feature that can provide an additional amount upon the death of the annuitant, paid alongside the death benefit proceeds under the contract. To qualify for this rider, it must be in force at the time of death, death benefits must be payable, and there must be rider earnings when calculating the death benefit. The rider can be elected when the contract is issued or on any Monthiversary before reaching age 75. The Additional Earnings Rider Amount is calculated by multiplying an earnings factor by the lesser of the rider earnings on the death report day or the rider earnings limit times the rider base. The maximum amount payable under this rider is $1 million. Rider earnings are the death benefit proceeds minus the rider base, which is the annuity value or the death benefit proceeds on the rider date, whichever is greater.
