Description & Notes
Benefit description
The Additional Earnings Rider is an optional benefit which can added to the annuity contract during the accumulation period, for an extra charge. It may help offset taxes on death benefits by providing a supplemental payment when the annuitant (owner) dies. This rider must be in effect at the time of death and only pays out if there are rider earnings. Each beneficiary can choose to receive the benefit or continue the rider after the owner's death. The rider must be added before the owner turns 75 and is not available in all states. The maximum benefit paid under this rider is $1 million. The rider pays an Additional Earnings Rider Amount if the rider is in force, death benefit proceeds are payable, and there are rider earnings when death benefits are calculated. It can be elected when the Contract is issued or on any Monthiversary before age 75. Rider earnings are the death benefit proceeds minus the rider base, which is the annuity value or the death benefit proceeds on the rider date, whichever is greater.
