The Endurance Elite is a limited flexible premium deferred index annuity. The minimum single premium is $10,000 for qualified and non-qualified money. Additional contributions can be made for $25 or more during the first policy year only. 5% of the paid premium can be withdrawn after the first contract year and must be taken before one of the two Enhanced Withdrawal Benefit options is selected. Surrender charges are six years in duration (8.5,8,7,6,5,4) and are waived in the event of annuitization, death, or entrance into a nursing home. There is a 10% premium bonus credited to the Enhanced Withdrawal Benefit value, and the EWB receives 105% enhancement on all fixed and/or indexed interest. After 5 years, the EWB value can be accessed by choosing either Option I: Scheduled withdrawals over a period as short as 10 years, or Option II: Guaranteed withdrawals for life. The Flexible Annuity Option Rider allows the withdrawal of accumulation value (less any bonus or interest earned on the bonus) anytime after the first contract year for a period certain of 10 to 30 years. The Flexible Withdrawal Rider is an optional rider which, if elected at an extra cost, allows access to a one-time lump-sum payment in any amount up to the accumulation value if admitted to a nursing home, hospital, or assisted living care facility for at least 30 out of 35 consecutive days. An additional nursing home / hospital benefit and unemployment benefit are also an option at no additional cost. State variations may apply. Withdrawals and taxable distributions may be subject to ordinary income tax and if made prior to age 59 1/2, may also be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty.
