The Athene Benefit 10 is a single premium deferred annuity with a market value adjustment. The minimum single premium is $10,000 for qualified and non-qualified money ($5,000 in LA, MD, NJ, PA, TX, WA). 10% of the accumulated value is available in the first contract year without a withdrawal charge or market value adjustment. Surrender charges are ten years in duration and are waived in the event of death, confinement, or diagnosis of a terminal illness. The Enhanced Benefits Rider is an automatically included benefit rider that offers Lifetime Income Withdrawals, Enhanced Income Benefit, Confinement Benefit, Terminal Illness Provision, and Rider Death Benefit calculated off a single Benefit Base. Withdrawals and taxable distributions may be subject to ordinary income tax and if made prior to age 59 1/2, may also be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty.
