The Athene Ascent Accumulator 5 is a single premium deferred annuity with a market value adjustment. The minimum single premium is $10,000 for qualified and non-qualified money ($5,000 in AK, HI, MN, NJ, MO, NH, OH, OR, PA, TX, UT and WA). 10% of the accumulated value is available in the first contract year without a withdrawal charge or market value adjustment. Beginning in the first contract year, the free withdrawal amount is equal to 10% of the accumulated value. Surrender charges are five years in duration and are waived in the event of death, confinement, or diagnosis of a terminal illness. There is a bailout feature available. Legacy Rider, an optional death benefit rider, is available for an additional cost. Withdrawals and taxable distributions may be subject to ordinary income tax and if made prior to age 59 1/2, may also be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty.
