The First Symetra Select 3 is a modified single premium deferred fixed annuity. The minimum premium is $25,000 for qualified and non-qualified funds. Additional contributions can be made for $1,000 or more during the first year only. During each policy year, including the first, up to 10% of the contract value may be withdrawn without CDSC charge. Systematic withdrawals are also an option. Surrender charges are three years in duration (5,5,5) and are waived in the event of annuitization, death, extended confinement in a nursing home or hospital. There is an optional return of principal which, if elected, guarantees the sum of all purchase payments, less prior withdrawals. IGMIR is between 1-3%, declared at issue. Withdrawals and taxable distributions may be subject to ordinary income tax and if made prior to age 59 1/2, may also be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty. Surrender charges may also apply. Guarantees are based on the claims paying ability of the insurer. This is an annuity contract issued by an insurance company and not a bank product protected by the FDIC.
