The AssetShield BONUS 5 (Option 2) is a flexible premium, deferred index annuity designed to help grow retirement savings with protection and optional features. It requires a minimum single premium of $5,000 for both qualified and non-qualified money, and additional contributions of $1,000 can be made over time. After the first policy year, up to 10% of original purchase amount can be withdrawn without a surrender charge. Interest earned may be withdrawn even during the first year without penalty. Systematic Withdrawals and Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) are available. Surrender charges apply for up to 5 years (may vary with state availability), but they are waived in cases of death, entry into a nursing home, or a terminal illness diagnosis. Optional features include Performance Rate Rider, and a Market Value Adjustment (MVA). Withdrawals and taxable distributions may be subject to ordinary income tax and if made prior to age 59 1/2, may also be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty. Early surrender charges may also apply. Guarantees are based on the claims-paying ability of the insurer. Products/features may not be available in all states.
