The Protective Series Foundation Annuity is a single premium deferred annuity. The minimum single premium is $10,000 for qualified and non-qualified funds. During the first contract year, the free-withdrawal amount is equal to 10% of the purchase payment. After the first contract year, the free-withdrawal amount is equal to 10% of the contract value on each contract anniversary. During the withdrawal charge period the free-withdrawal amount is cumulative. Any portion not used during a contract year carries forward to future contract years, up to 20% of the contract value. Systematic Withdrawal is an option. Surrender charges are five years in duration and are waived in the event of death, qualified medical stay, unemployment or diagnosis of a terminal illness. There is a return of premium guarantee that is included in the contract unless waived by owner in favor of an additional crediting rate. Withdrawals and taxable distributions may be subject to ordinary income tax and if made prior to age 59 1/2, may also be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty. Early surrender charges may also apply. Products / features may not be available in all states.
