The American Pathway Fixed 6 Annuity is a single premium deferred annuity. The minimum initial contribution is $2,000 for qualified and $5,000 for non-qualified funds. 15% of accumulated value as of the previous anniversary is available for penalty free withdrawal. Systematic withdrawal is an option. There are six years of surrender charges that are waived in the event of entrance into a hospital or admittance into a nursing home. There is an optional return of premium guarantee available at the time of purchase. Withdrawals and taxable distributions may be subject to ordinary income tax and if made prior to age 59 1/2, may also be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty.
