DESCRIPTION

On each rider year anniversary, the GA, minus purchase payments in that rider year, will be enhanced by 5% if the owner/annuitant (as well as the spouse if the Joint Life option is in effect) are under age 86. Purchase payments in that rider year earn the enhancement in the next rider year. The 5% Enhancement is not available in any rider year that there is a withdrawal including a MAW amount. The 5% Enhancement is in effect for 10 years from the rider effective date. A new 10-year period begins each time there is an Automatic Annual Step-Up. It will cease on the death of the owner/annuitant or the survivor of the owner or spouse (if the Joint Life option is if effect) or when the oldest of those individuals reaches age 86. The 5% Enhancement and Automatic Annual Step-Up will not occur in the same year. If the Automatic Annual Step-Up provides a greater increase in the GA, the 5% Enhancement will not be received. The percentage rider charge does not change for increases in the GA due to the 5% Enhancement.
