BENEFIT DESCRIPTION
The rider provides a consistent protected lifetime income with less risky investment choices. Protected Lifetime Income amount is a percentage of Protected Income Base, determined by the income option chosen and age when income starts.,Rider is available for purchase with a variable annuity contract if the purchase payment or contract value (if purchased after the contract is issued) is at least $25,000. After the first rider anniversary, cumulative additional purchase payments into the contract will be limited to an amount equal to $100,000.
RIDER CANCELLATION
May be cancelled on or after 5th rider anniversary.
RIDER TERMINATION
Benefit will automatically terminate upon earliest of - 1) surrender, 2) annuitization, 3) death, 4) termination of contract, or 5) benefit base or contract value reduces to zero.
AVAILABLE WHEN ADDED
It can be elected post-issue or at issue.
SUBSEQUENT PREMIUM
Subsequent purchase payments increase the PA dollar for dollar and the PAI amount by applicable PAI % multiplied by the amount of the subsequent purchase payment. Additional purchase payments are not allowed if contract value reduces to zero.
WITHDRAWAL NOTES
Periodic withdrawals up to Protected Annual Income (PAI) amount can be made in a rider year during owner's lifetime (single life) or lifetime of owner and spouse (joint life). The PAI withdrawals can begin when owner (single life) or younger of owner or spouse (joint life) turn age 59. If age is less than 59 on rider effective date, the initial PAI will be zero. After first withdrawal, PAI amount percent will only increase on rider anniversary if an applicable higher age band has been reached and after there has been an Account Value Step-up.
PARTIAL WITHDRAWALS
When withdrawals in a rider year exceed the MAW amount, the PA is reduced in the same proportion that the contract value is reduced for the excess withdrawal. The PAI amount is reset to the applicable PAI amount % multiplied by the new reduced IB.
REQUIRED MIN DISTRIBUTIONS
RMD withdrawals in excess of the PAI amount are not considered to be excess withdrawals.
SPOUSAL CONTINUATION OPTION
Surviving spouse may elect to continue benefit after death of owner under joint life option.
EFFECT CHANGE OWNERSHIP
Change in ownership will result in termination of rider except under certain conditions.

For contracts issued in Maryland, the issue age must be 58. However, if the Estate Lock death benefit rider is purchased, the issue age of owner/annuitant can be between 35 and 75 years.
