Benefit Base
BENEFIT BASE — GENERAL
On rider issue date, Withdrawal Benefit Base equals the sum of all Eligible Purchase Payments. Eligible purchase payments includes the amount of Purchase Payments made to the contract during the first 90 days after contract issue date, adjusted for withdrawals before the Benefit Availability Date in the same proportion that the withdrawal reduced the contract value on the date of the withdrawal.
BENEFIT BASE — WITHDRAWAL
Withdrawal will reduce the Benefit Base as - 1) If the withdrawal does not cause total withdrawals in the Benefit Year to exceed the Maximum Annual Withdrawal Amount, the Withdrawal Benefit Base will be reduced by the amount of the withdrawal, or 2) If the withdrawal causes total withdrawals in the Benefit Year to exceed the Maximum Annual Withdrawal Amount, the Withdrawal Benefit Base is reduced to the lesser of - a) Withdrawal Benefit Base immediately prior to the withdrawal minus the amount of the withdrawal, or b) Withdrawal Benefit Base immediately prior to the withdrawal reduced in the same proportion by which the contract value is reduced by the amount of the withdrawal. If the withdrawal is taken prior to the Benefit Availability Date, the Stepped-Up Benefit Base will be equal to Benefit Base plus the reduced Step-Up Amount which will be 30% of the Withdrawal Benefit Base, adjusted for such withdrawals.
