Basic Death Benefit

Benefit is available in conjunction of Retirement Protection Account and during accumulation phase. Upon death of owner, benefit will be greater of - 1) retirement protection account value; or 2) quarterly anniversary value. Quarterly anniversary value at issue is equal to initial purchase payment allocated to retirement protection account and any portfolio choice account value (or heritage account value, as applicable) transferred into the retirement protection account adjusted for withdrawals. On each quarterly anniversary before the end date, Issuer compare the quarterly anniversary value to the retirement protection account value using the values determined at the end of the prior business day and increase the quarterly anniversary value to equal this retirement protection account value if it is greater. On and after the end date, Issuer no longer makes this comparison. The end date occurs on the earliest of - 1) owner's 91st birthday; or 2) end of business day during which first receive a valid claim from any one beneficiary. Owner must select an Asset Allocation Program.
