The Total Interest Annuity is a flexible premium deferred annuity. The minimum initial contribution is $2,500. Additional payments may be made for $50 or more. Surrender schedules vary by state. There is an annual 10% free withdrawal of the contract value. There is an optional return of premium rider which, if elected at an extra cost, guarantees that the cash value will never be less than 100% of the premium payment, less withdrawals. There is an optional early retirement rider available on 403(b) and Roth 403(b) plans which, if elected at an extra cost, allows access to all purchase payments and interest earned without incurring a surrender charge. In TX, the first year current interest rate will include additional guaranteed interest equal to the current bonus rate. Withdrawals and taxable distributions may be subject to ordinary income tax and if made prior to age 59 1/2, may also be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty.
