Legacy Care is a single premium deferred annuity. The minimum single premium is $10,000 for qualified and non-qualified money. Interest may be withdrawn after the first contract year without a withdrawal charge. Systematic Withdrawal is an option. Surrender charges are five years in in duration, vary by state, and are waived in the event of death. There is a bailout provision available if the renewal rate ever drops below the first-year rate,
the policyowner may surrender the annuity without surrender charges as long as the request is made within 60 days of the policy anniversary. There is a Benefit Increase rider available should the owner become chronically ill, the owner may may exchange all, or a portion of the annuity cash value into a medically underwritten State Life single premium immediate annuity. Withdrawals and taxable distributions may be subject to ordinary income tax and if made prior to age 59 1/2, may also be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty. Early surrender charges may also apply. Products / features may not be available in all states.
