The Protected Deferred Annuity (EDJ) is a single premium, fixed deferred annuity with a market value adjustment, requiring a minimum investment of $25,000. After 30 days from the issue date, up to 10% of the account value can be withdrawn each year without penaltyâ10% of the initial premium in the first year, and 10% of the account value at the beginning of each subsequent contract year. Systematic withdrawals are available. Surrender charges apply for durations of 2, 3, 4, 5, or 7 years but are waived in the event of death or qualifying nursing home or critical care withdrawals. Withdrawals and taxable distributions may be subject to ordinary income tax and if made prior to age 59 1/2, may also be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty. Surrender charges may also apply. Guarantees are based on the claims paying ability of the insurer. Products / features may not be available in all states.
